Environmental Management Process

Roles and responsibilities

To ensure effective implementation of our Environmental Management Policy, PMS MK assigns clear roles across the organisation. Our Company Secretary acts as our Environmental Lead and is responsible for overseeing the policy, ensuring compliance, and coordinating annual reviews. They also act as Training Lead, managing environmental inductions and ongoing awareness programmes for all employees and subcontractors. All employees and subcontractors integrate environmental objectives into project planning and delivery and ensures subcontractors and suppliers meet sustainability standards. Project Managers ensure that works contractors implement site-specific controls and report incidents back to the client team. PMS MK’s Company Directors have authorised the policy, allocates resources, and champions continuous improvement. These roles work collaboratively to uphold our commitment to environmental responsibility and ISO 14001-equivalent practices.

Our environmental objectives and targets are to:

  • Ensure 100% compliance with applicable environmental legislation and client requirements. This will be monitored by tracking the number of non-compliance incidents on a quarterly basis
  • Ensure 100% of PMS MK subcontractors receive environmental induction and agree to sustainability clauses on a per project basis
  • Deliver environmental training to all staff and key subcontractors, monitoring feedback scores on an annual basis
  • Work with contractors to reduce construction-related waste by 15% annually and will be measured by recording the tonnes of waste generated per project vs. baseline
  • Encourage contractors to source 50% of materials from suppliers with environmental credentials and will be measured by recording the % of suppliers with sustainability certifications per project
  • Work with clients to consider the reuse of structures to reduce embodied carbon released in 80% of applicable projects. This will be monitored by tracking the % of projects incorporating reuse strategies at project close-out
  • Implement at least one environmental process improvements per year, documenting the improvements and adapting processes accordingly.

In 2025 PMS MK are working to encourage use of public transport / carpooling for site visits and meetings and encouraging the optimal use of electric vehicles where possible. We will track the % of site visits using low-carbon travel options by staff self-reporting via mileage and expense claims.

Our approach reflects the principles of reducing harm, creating benefits, and leaving a legacy.

PMS MK is committed to collaborating with clients, communities, and industry partners to deliver projects that are not only successful but also environmentally responsible.
